On March 11, the plenary meeting of the organizing committee of the Fifth China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) was held in Beijing. Wang Wentao, Director of the Organizing Committee and Minister of Commerce, and Liu Xiaoming, Director of the Organizing Committee and Governor of Hainan Province, attended and addressed the meeting. Sheng Qiuping, Vice Minister of Commerce, and Gu Gang, Deputy Governor of Hainan Province, attended the meeting.

Wang Wentao stressed that the fifth CICPE serves as an important opportunity for boosting consumption and economic recovery, an active measure to develop new productive forces and promote high quality development, and an important carrier supporting the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the expansion of high-quality opening up. It is necessary to firmly implement the decisions and plans made by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on ensuring the success of trade shows such as the CICPE, give full play to the role of CICPE as an exhibition and trade platform for global premier products, leverage at the same time the “Buy in China” series of activities, highlight premier products, consumption services, innovation and global reach. Various preparations should be advanced steadily to continuously improve the global influence of CICPE.

Liu Xiaoming said that Hainan will make every effort to promote the preparations for the Fifth CICPE, and continuously enhance the core attractiveness and competitiveness of the event. The focus will be put on improving the quality of the event, meticulously planning activities for global premier consumer goods and debut show and products, enhancing the consumer experience, highlighting the display of diversified and innovative consumption scenarios and the integration of business, tourism, culture, sports and fitness, and strengthening service guarantee, to ensure that this year’s CICPE can be more impressive and effective on the basis of convenience, safety and order. 

Representatives of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security and other members of the Organizing Committee attended the meeting. Representatives of the relevant departments of Hainan Province attended the parallel session in Haikou.
